Appalachian  hand carved wooden ducks are hand carved, textured, painted and signed by me, I'm Jim Harvey.  All  ducks [mallards, goose, wood ducks and loons]  have taxidermist quality eyes and eyes are matched sets. All wood used in these carved ducks is cut locally [Western Maryland] dried for 2 to 3 year or more and then cut into blocks, bandsawed to a pattern and then the fun begins. Each wooden duck is rough shaped with a carving knife, feather detail is then cut into this rough shape. After feathers are cut into duck and bill is carved to size, thousands of  line detail  is burned  on ducks  carved feathers, head, body and tail  which produces  a  very  nicely detailed duck.  All hand carved wooden ducks are then  hand painted , pads are installed on bottom [so the wood of the duck won't scratch the furniture] and  then if it  meets my expectations the duck is signed by me and  only then is it for sale. Due to this method of carving  no two hand carved duck are exactly the same thus each  hand carved wooden duck is an original.

I hope you enjoy viewing these carved wooden ducks as much as I enjoy making them.
